Departure: 1 pm on Saturday 13 March from Denison Armoury Return: Around 12 noon on Saturday 20 March to Denison Armoury
Required ID (originals, no photocopies) - Canadian passport OR foreign passport with US visa and Canadian Permanent Resident card - Health Card
Bring - Personal medication - Cadets MUST inform the officers if bringing any medication - Complete cadet uniform with Parka (fleece and outer) - Toiletries - Towel, toothbrush, shampoo, etc - Clean underwear and socks - Enough for 7 days - Smart civilian clothing - For eating at the mess and going on certain tours, so decent pants and a nice shirt - Appropriate pants, shorts, shirts, etc - Mean temperature in Florida is 15-20 degrees - Sweater or jacket - It could be chilly at night or rainy - Running shoes - Slippers or sandals - Sunscreen and bug spray - Water bottle - A small back-pack - To carry a change of clothes in - Spending money - Suggested $50 USD. Cadets do NOT have to pay for any meals or tours, only snacks and souvenirs. Money must be exchanged before the trip, cadets will not be able to exchange money in the US or use Canadian money.
Optional - Camera - DVD movies - For the bus ride - Books, cards, games, iPod etc - Pillow and small blanket - For the bus ride, which is overnight both ways - Swimsuit - There will be a beach and swimming pool available
Do NOT Bring - Knives, lighters, or anything illegal - They will be confiscated and disciplinary action taken - Food, plants, or anything that is illegal to be brought across the border - The Sqn is not responsible for confiscated items
Notes - All items brought by the cadet are their responsibility. The Sqn is not responsible for any lost or damaged items. - Uniforms must be clean and ironed before the trip, and brought (not worn) in uniform/suit bags. - All uniform parts must be marked on the tags with the cadet's name. - Cadets must have proper haircuts for the trip. - Cadets should wear comfortable clothing for the long, overnight bus ride.

His phone number can be requested on Friday nights or at the departure. - Cadets will have access to payphones in Florida if they wish to call home. A calling card is suggested for making long distance calls. |

618 Queen City Squadron is holding a formal dance/ball that is open to all current Air Cadets. "Meet new people & reconnect with old friends."
When: Saturday 27 Feb 2010 from 7 pm to 11 pm Where: HMCS York- 659 Lake Shore Blvd West (click here for map and directions) Tickets: $7. If you've paid, tell the person at the front your name and squadron before entering. You may pay at the door if you haven't handed in your money to WO2 Garbrah Dress: Semi-formal, no jeans or t-shirts Females: Dresses or skirts to be no shorter than two inches above the knee. Anything too revealing and you will be asked to leave the event Males: Preferably dress pants and a dress shirt |

TAG Sports CompetitionThe TAG Sports Comp is on Saturday Feb 20th at Fort York Armoury. Cadets have to be there at 8 am. We'll be competing against the other Toronto squadrons in basketball, volleyball, European handball and floor hockey. Sign-ups are being held during Monday-night sports at Glenview. Map to Fort York Armoury180 Drill CompetitionWe're again running our annual 180 Drill Comp! It will be held on Sunday Feb 28th at HMCS York. Cadets on the Drill Team, Rifle Drill Team and those helping out must be there by 9 am. We do need cadets to help run the day, so if you're free that Sunday, come down to give a hand. Map to HMCS YorkZone Shooting Competition - UpdateThe Zone Shoot will be happening on March 7th. The team tryouts scheduled for Feb 14th have been cancelled. We will post up a new date for tryouts if and when we are able to schedule one. Happy Family Day! Note that there is no sports at Glenview on Monday Feb 15th. The school will be closed. |

Registration DeadlineThe final day for registration for 2010 summer courses is Friday, February 5th. That means if you have not registered yet, and you want to go on a cadet course this summer, you and a parent must see Cpl Sandoval this Friday or next at 6:30 pm. Note that due to the high number of registrations, all applications handed in after the December registrations will be on the summer course waiting list. RecruitsFor any cadet who has recently joined the Sqn, you MUST have your recruit application paperwork submitted by this Friday (Jan 29th) in order for us to print out your summer course registration form (which you and a parent will have to sign). Here’s some information for 180’s annual March Break trip. The warning order (what to bring) will be posted online in March.
180 Sqn March Break 2010 We will be going to Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida from Saturday 13 March to Saturday 20 March via chartered coach. Cost of the trip includes all meals, accommodations and activities.
Cost and Payment The total cost is $300.00. A deposit of $150.00 is due before 22 Jan to keep your spot. You may also pay the total balance or talk to Lt Hanniford to make other arrangements Pay in cash or cheque (made out to 180 Mosquito Squadron). The remaining balance is due by 26 Feb.
ID Requirements All cadets going on the trip must bring their Health Card and either a Canadian Passport or non-Canadian Passport with US Visa. If any of these documents are missing, you must get them before March.
US Visa Info Wait times are approximately 41 days for interviews at the US Consulate, make your appointment as soon as possible if you have not already done so. Contact Lt Hanniford for a letter to provide at the Visa interview.
Permission Form All cadets going on the trip must download, print, fill out and sign the March Break permission form. This must be handed in to Lt Hanniford as soon as possible.
