180 Run This Sunday (24 May) is 180’s 3rd annual 5 km run at Sunnybrook Park. Not only is it a fundraiser for the Sqn (so remember to collect and bring in the pledges and pledge forms), but the BBQs will be going, and there’s going to be lots of games/water balloons/lounging! We’ll be set up by the stables at Sunnybrook Park and meeting at 9:30 am (maps & directions here). We finish around 2 pm.
Download the Pledge Form here
Gliding On Sunday 31 May, we’ll be gliding again. This is open to all cadets, and it’s encouraged that everyone who hasn’t gone before attends. We’ll be meeting at Denison Armoury (map & directions here) at 7:30 am. We should be back around 2 pm. This is a great chance to experience a 15-20 min glider flight. If you want lunch, we’ll be stopping at McDonald’s on the way back, so bring money or a snack.
Canoe Weekend On 5-7 June, the Sqn is heading north for our annual Canoe trip. This is the last trip before the summer break, and a lot of fun, sign-ups will be this Friday and/or next Friday. More information will follow the week before the trip.
Annual Inspection This year’s Annual Inspection will be all day on Saturday 13 June at Denison Armoury. This is the biggest event of the year, and it’s mandatory and important that all cadets attend. Family and friends are invited too, and an invitation with more information will be given in the banner and here in June.
Uniform Supply We’re working hard to outfit all cadets with uniforms for the Annual Inspection. If you need a uniform or any parts, supply will be open from 5 until 6 pm the next two Fridays.

This Friday… Glenview is closed this Friday, so we’re changing the venue for the night. We are having a games/movie night at the Legion (click here for a map & directions) from 6:30 to 9:30. We’ll be wearing civilian clothing (no uniforms) and it’s going to be a more relaxed night. See all of you there!
Congratulations Drill Team! This past weekend, the 180 Sqn Drill Team once again came first in the Central Ontario Area Drill Competition. Good job, and if you haven’t seen the routine yet, just look up “180 sqn” in YouTube.
Easter Weekend Next week there will be no cadets over the Easter weekend (Friday to Monday). Enjoy your time off, and get ready for tagging the week after…
Tagging We’ll be tagging (fundraising) on April 16 – 19. There will be more information here after Easter.
Sports Comp and Gliding It’s a month away, but the last weekend of April revs up the sqn for the rest of the training year. That weekend the sqn will take part in the Durham Sports Competition on Saturday, and we’ll be gliding on the Sunday. After that, in May and June, we have the Band/Flag Party competitions, Survival, 180 Run, fitness testing, Canoe weekend and Annual… it’s going to be fun… |
