TAG CTCChristmas Training Course

Every year from December 26 until the 31st, cadets have an opportunity to advance their training at the Toronto Air Group's Christmas Training Course (TAG CTC). As a 180 cadet, you're highly encouraged to attend the course, it's tough, but it's fun, and you'll get lots out of it (also it beats sitting in front of the TV eating turkey left-overs for a week).

The available courses are: Basic, Jr NCO, Sr NCO and Band. All are excellent courses, and are run at Fort York (Click here for directions).

To go on a course, you just need to download, print, and fill out a permission form (Click here to get one).

Rifle Drill Team

The Drill Team with Arms, more commonly known as the Rifle Drill Team, has its first set of tryouts this Sunday! Tryouts will be at Denison Armoury from 4 to 7 pm this Sunday (11 Nov) and next Sunday (18 Nov). Practices will continue on Sundays at the same time and place, practicing for the 180 Drill Competition and 180's Annual Inspection.

Update (8 Nov 07) - The practice will be in full uniform

In the RDT, if you make it, you're going to be part of a 16-person formation doing precision rifle drill in a 6 minute choreographed routine. It's going to be hard, disciplined and sometimes painful (spinning a 12-pound piece of wood and iron around your body does that sometimes), but it's going to be fun, just ask anyone who did it last year...

The selection criteria will be as follows (starting with the most important):
1. Previous rifle drill experience
2. Ability to do drill and maneuver the rifle around your body
3. Rank and Sqn experience

So if you want to do something different in the sqn, and especially if you don't make the drill team or are unable to commit to the band, then come down to Denison Armoury this Sunday to give it a shot.
